PRESS RELEASE
The head of the Aden National Project, Mr. Mohammed Bashraheel, said on his official page
“For more than six decades, Aden has lived through a continuous cycle of conflicts, many of which have turned into wars and armed conflicts, and the city's streets and neighborhoods have been the scene of them. The parties changed and the labels changed, but the result remained the same: a city being depleted, and citizens paying the price for their security, stability, and livelihoods. Wars, bombings, assassinations, acts of sabotage, demonstrations and millions have had profound effects on Aden, exhausting its sons who were at every station of the conflict most tolerant of loss and suffering, while development, reconstruction and improvement of services remained postponed or absent. Experiences have shown that competing for control of Aden has not achieved security or development for its people, and that slogans and chants, no matter how loud, do not build a city, do not provide services, and do not create a future for future generations. In this sense, we in the Aden National Project affirm that the time has come to take Aden out of the circle of conflicts, and to view it as a city of peace, life and development, in which millions of civilians live, and not an arena for settling political or military scores. Our message to everyone is clear: Leave Eden to its people, and keep your conflicts away from it. And if you enter it, let your entry be for the sake of peace, construction and the service of man, not to turn its streets again into fields of war and destruction."
