Aden is not an arena for settling scores
Mohammed Hisham Bashraheel
Aden is not a land without identity and it is not a city without people, but it is the city of history and dignity, and the city that paid a heavy price for the blood of its people, its security and stability. Therefore, it will not allow it to turn again into a theater of chaos, a platform for settling political scores, or carrying out losing projects. Whoever believes that Aden can be an open arena for his political battles is delusional, and underestimates the awareness of its sons who have experienced the experiences of the past, and no longer accept being dragged behind false slogans or suspicious calls. There is no dispute that the right to peaceful demonstration is an inherent right guaranteed by laws and charters, but this right does not grant anyone the authority to impose their protest on another city and does not justify turning Aden into a destination for anyone who has lost his influence or seeks to restore it at the expense of the security and stability of the city and the lives of its residents. The southern cause is a just cause, for which southerners have made great sacrifices. However, the justice of the cause does not mean that Aden should bear the burden of political conflicts alone. Each governorate and city has its own concerns, and the people of each governorate have the right to express their demands within their governorates and cities, not to transfer their protests to Aden and make its people pay for them. Whoever tries today to summon the masses to Aden does not do so for the sake of the southern cause or in defense of its interests, but rather seeks narrow political gains after his presence has declined and he has lost much of his influence and no longer finds anyone to respond to his calls. So he tries to drag Eden into a battle that is not hers, believing that chaos may bring him back to the forefront. The people of Eden have become more aware of these facts than ever before. They were at the forefront of the struggle, made sacrifices at various stages, and participated in events and protests when they served the public interest, but today they are too conscious to allow their city to be turned into a hostage of others' battles or an arena of chaos. They realize that protecting Aden is a collective responsibility, and that preserving its security and stability takes precedence over any political calculations or personal interests that do not serve the citizen or the homeland.
