Today, the dialogue and communication team of the Aden National Project visited Ms. Mervat Al-Salami, President of the General Federation of Trade Unions of the Capital, Aden, at the headquarters of the Federation in the Directorate of Mualla, to discuss ways of networking and partnership between the project and the trade union movement, and to enhance the participation of workers in formulating visions and policies related to the future of Aden. The meeting discussed the importance of transforming the voice of the Adeni worker into an influential voice in decision-making and public policies, participating in the formulation of a common future Adeni vision, and contributing to the preparation of the "Historical Document of Aden" to be a comprehensive Adeni reference that preserves the rights of future generations. Ms. Mervat Al-Salami welcomed the visit, praising the role of the Aden National Project in bringing together the visions of various Adeni forces and actors and involving various segments of society, stressing the Union's readiness to cooperate and network with the project in a way that serves workers' issues and enhances their presence in public affairs. For his part, Mr. Mohammed Anwar Al-Adni, Deputy Head of the Dialogue and Communication Team, explained that the Aden National Project is not a party or a political component and does not claim to represent Aden, but rather a civil, political, and community platform for dialogue, producing visions, and formulating policies and strategies on Aden. He pointed to the formation of six specialized teams: political, economic, community, media, policies and strategies, and monitoring and evaluation, stressing that the next phase will witness a field descent to the neighborhoods and directorates of the capital, and the organization of seminars, workshops and panel discussions with various Adeni forces and actors, without exclusion or marginalization. The dialogue and communication team praised the role played by Ms. Mervat Al-Salami in enhancing the presence of the trade union movement and restoring the status of the union in serving workers and defending their rights. It also appreciated the support of His Excellency the Minister of State, Governor of the Capital Aden, Mr. Abdulrahman Sheikh, for the union and its efforts in enhancing the independence of the trade union movement and avoiding politicization. The meeting stressed that shaping the future of Aden requires the participation of all segments of society, foremost of which are workers, women, youth, civil society and the private sector, and that this meeting comes within the series of meetings of the Aden National Project aimed at building a broad community partnership and producing a common Adeni vision for the future.
