Aden.. Between the multiplicity of initiatives and the unity of purpose.. A call for a national partnership that promotes the public interest and establishes an inclusive consensus

By: Abdulrahman Saeed
Member of the Dialogue and Communication Team for the Aden National Project. To all national leaders, political figures, initiators, intellectual and social elites, and to all the people of Aden…

I address this appeal to you based on a firm belief that Aden was, and still is, bigger than any project, and broader than any difference, and that our national responsibility today requires us all to rise to the level of the challenges facing our city, and to make its unity and stability a goal that transcends all considerations. The critical stages in which the value of initiatives is not measured by their differentiation, but rather by their ability to create commonalities. Today, Aden is in dire need of a national will that believes that consensus is not a temporary political option, but a necessity imposed by the responsibility to preserve the city and its future, and that partnership is not a sharing of gains, but rather a unification of responsibility towards man and the earth. From this standpoint, I call on everyone to make the interest of Aden and the Adeni citizen the overarching framework for all initiatives and visions, and that dialogue is our way to bring views closer, and integration is our approach to managing difference, away from any logic that feeds division or dispels energies. The multiplicity of initiatives is not the challenge, but the real challenge lies in our ability to transform this diversity into a national force, and into a partnership that enhances trust, and opens new horizons for joint action. The wider the compatibility space, the closer Eden is to stability, and the more we introduce the city to our projects, the more our projects will be able to serve the city and its people. I invite all of you to meet on an unwritten moral and national charter, a charter that makes Aden bigger than our differences, makes the Adenian citizen the point of convergence on which we do not disagree, and transforms our initiatives from parallel efforts to one will that moves towards the renaissance of the city and preserving the dignity of its people. I am certain that Aden today needs not more factions, but rather men and women who believe that dialogue builds trust, consensus creates stability, and the common good is the foundation upon which nations are built. My message to everyone is clear: if we unite for Aden, Aden will win, and everyone will win. Let us make Aden our greatest project, and our unity the greatest achievement we can offer to its present and the future of its generations.
